The Lance Ranch

Here is our family blog to keep all our friends and family updated on the comings and goings at our house. I titled it "The Lance Ranch" because a Ranch is where animals live and it can be wild at times. Well...welcome to our ranch where we have a lot of animals, and it's very wild at times especially if you count the kids :)!!

Our Family - The Lance Ranch

Our Family consists of 7 people - if you count me. We can be crazy, loud, silly, and a lot of the time I feel like I might loose my mind. It sometimes feels like the "funny farm" more than "The Lance Ranch". I remind myself (and Chad) to enjoy the craziness and noise because I know when it stops...it will be missed. We're just doing our best to raise great people, who we know will be a blessing in this world.

Leah is second and turned 12 years old this year! I can't believe she started Young Women's, but am so happy for her. Leah is the most like Chad - not to mention she looks just like him. She loves the outdoors, animals, and bugs - not to include spiders or praying mantises (yup, that's from me)! She is loved by many boys at school, and gets many love notes - I don't know how I'm going to handle this. She's picked up on math very quickly, which to Mom is very impressive! She likes tools like Mom and if there are tools out I somehow find Leah right behind me. Being a animal lover, she told me when she grows up she wants to live somewhere "rural" - not the "suburbs" :)! If she had it her way we would literally live on "The Lance Ranch"!

Eliza is 8 yrs old and is just that... our "into everything girl"! She is the youngest girl, but definitely makes her presence known. She makes sure she has the attention she wants (those who've met her know exactly what I mean). Being so curious gets her into trouble; we have had to baby proof things thought to be impossible, or let's face it...NEEDED!!

Katija-Our Creative Artist

Katija is our oldest - she's 14 yrs old and definitely meant to be the oldest and is a wonderful older sister. She has a great nurturing nature - she gets a lot of practice being the oldest of 5 kids :). She has struggled with an un-diagnosed learning disability since Kindergarten, but is now getting the help she needs. I'm so proud of her and all she has done to rise above and catch up. It's been a blessing actually, by being "different" she is more sensitive to others feelings and wants everyone to feel included. She plays the violin, was the orchestra secretary this past school year, and is starting up with the piano again since my mom just moved nearby. She starts 9th grade this year and I can't believe what a wonderful young woman she is growing up to be.

Natalie is 10, she is our third child AND third daughter. She started 4th grade this year and does an amazing job and keeping herself motivated! She always has a story to tell and never wants to go off track. She is a great story teller, but be careful because she is a very good liar; you may start to believe her made up version of the truth - a "talent" gifted by Dad! She is a good big sister and always wants to help - even if it means racing to do it before anyone else can. She is a great helper and seems to be the runner, meaning if one of them needs something she is up and off to go get it - I wonder how long that will last?

Caden-Our Rough and Tough Boy

Caden is our youngest and our only son. He is 5 coming up on 6 in July. He finished kindergarten and will start 1st grade in the fall. I think it will be good for him to be in school full time. It's been a joy to experience raising a son (don't get me wrong we love all our girls)! He can over scream any of girls...this kid has an amazing set of pipes! He loves music and will stop in his tracks when he hears any, he will dance to any music - even the Mormon Tab Choir. He is all boy and Mom and Dad are discovering what that really means. He is very attached to family and is such a grump when not in his own environment. He needs a set amount of Mommy AND Daddy time - then he's a happy camper. He's become quite the Daddy's Boy and thinks he has to go everywhere with Dad. He counts the time before Dad comes home and has become his Dad's personal shadow.
